Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preserve all the viewing angles of still pictures even when the input still pictures different in the number of scanning lines are recorded in accordance with a VGA standard by multiplying the number of pixels in the auxiliary scanning direction of an input still picture signal by K-times so as to record them with a linear insertion/interpolation processing. SOLUTION: In a scanning line conversion circuit 4, a recording operation part executes the linear insertion/interpolation processing. Thus, the number of the pixels in the auxiliary scanning direction after an operation becomes K-times as much as the original number of the pixels. The value of K can easily be changed when the value of interior division point information is suitably selected. In the still picture of a PAL system having a larger number of the scanning lines, for example, the value of interior division point information by which the value of K becomes smaller than '1' may be selected. At the time of recording, the recording operation part executes the linear insertion/ interpolation operation by using field data ODD and EVE, which are read out of field memories 8A and 8B, and an operated result is supplied to a recording and reproducing part 6 through a buffer memory 5. |
