Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable lithium secondary battery which is formed so that an electric current breaking mechanism can be quickly actuated. SOLUTION: A lithium secondary battery is provided with an electric current breaking mechanism to be actuated according to an increase in battery internal pressure at battery abnormal time. The lithium secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode 1 formed by applying a positive electrode mix to a positive electrode current collecting body 6 and a negative electrode 2 formed by applying a negative electrode mix to a negative electrode current collecting body 7, and is provided with a first electrode to perform charge-discharge and a second electrode 11 composed of a material which is decomposed by prescribed battery voltage and generates gas.
