Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coding device for multi-channel audio data which is contrived to improve coding efficiency and make reproduction quality high quality. SOLUTION: A variable bit allotting circuit 1 extracts feature quantity of digital audio data ChA, ChB, ChC of each channel inputted with a coding block unit for each coding block, varies the number of allotted bits allotted to digital audio data ChA, ChB, ChC of each channel for each coding block based on extracted each feature quantity within the prescribed total bit numbers, decides each bit number. Delay circuits 2A, 2B, 2C give delay quantity corresponding to a processing time of the variable bit allotting circuit 1 to digital audio data ChA, ChB, ChC of each channel inputted with a coding block unit. Coding devices 3A, 3B, 3C encode digital audio data ChA, ChB, ChC of each channel from the delay means respectively based on allotted bit numbers of digital audio data ChA, ChB, ChC of each channel from the variable bit allotting circuit 1.
