Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver of an electric motor-driven variable pitch propeller not requiring any hydraulic mechanism by using a cylindrical synchronous type linear motor whose fixed parts are fixed to a base as the power supply of its operational shaft and whose mobile parts are fixedly attached to one end of the operational shaft. SOLUTION: When flowing water is introduced in a Kaplan turbine, the Kaplan turbine is started and when its variable pitch propeller (water turbine spindle 1), and an operational shaft 2 start their rotation at equal rotational speeds, a direct mover 8 on the top end part of operational shaft 2 also makes its rotation in the same way. And after a generator driven by the water turbine is synchronously incorporated in a power system, the optimum attach angle (opening degree) of the blade of the variable pitch propeller 1 of the water turbine is decided in compliance with the head, etc., of introduced flowing water. Hereat, by repetitively making excitation control of the electromagnet 6 of the directly moving fixed piece 4 in a synchronous type linear motor 3 so as to alternately convert the polarity of respective magnetic poles 6b in reverse polarity, the attach angle of the blade of the variable pitch propeller 1 of the water turbine is regulated to its optimum value. |
