Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily support the understanding of even a user who does not know well a 1st language by combining a machine translation function with an electronic dictionary function. SOLUTION: A word dictionary information extraction part 9 retrieves a part-of-speech information correspondence table 10 to recognize the part-of- speech labels contained in a word dictionary data base 7 and corresponding to the decided part-of-speech information stored in an analysis information temporary storage part 8. Then the part 9 extracts the dictionary information including the recognized part-of-speech labels from the dictionary information stored in a display information temporary storage part 4 and displays the extracted dictionary information at an output display part 5. In such a way, only the dictionary information on the part of speech selected by a syntactic analysis is extracted and displayed out of the dictionary information on the words included in a translation text. Therefore, a user can skip the dictionary information on the parts of speech having no possibility of interpretation and can quickly obtain the information which can support the understanding of the text.
