Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve rubbing conditions and to suppress the occurrence of static electricity and flaws in a method for orienting substrates for a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: An org. orienting agent 3 is first applied on the surface of the substrate 1 of the liquid crystal display device formed with at least electrodes 2 by executing a coating stage. Next, the substrate is calcined at a relatively low temp. by executing a calcination stage and the org. orienting agent applied on its surface is half cured to form an org. oriented film 3a. In succession, orientability is imparted to the liquid crystal molecules by rubbing the org. oriented film 3a in a specified direction by a buff material 5 by executing a rubbing stage. Finally, the substrate 1 is normally calcined at a relatively high temp. by executing a normal calcination stage, by which the org. oriented film 3a is completely cured and the film quality thereof is stabilized. |
