Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible simultaneously satisfying all of easiness of substrate loading/unloading, improvement of holding force and uniform holding force capable of suppressing distortion and application unevenness by providing a suction pad with a porous body vacuum suction holding a substrate. SOLUTION: Grooves 6a, 6b circularly prolonging are carved on the position of an upper surface of a transfer tray 1 and just under the porous body 4, and the grooves 6a, 6b are communicated with each other through a communication hole 7. A sucking port 8 is connected to the outside groove 6b. A decompression source and a vacuum source are connected to the sucking port 8, and external air is sucked in from the upper surface side of the porous body 4. The substrate 2 is vacuum sucked to the upper surface side of the sucking pad 3 by the sucking force. The on/off of this sucking is switched easily by providing an electromagnetic stop valve in a suction circuit. The sucked substrate 2 is transferred in the prescribed direction together with the pad 3 and the tray 1, and adhesive 10 applied onto a rotating application roll 9 is applied onto the prescribed surface of the substrate 2.
