Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus by which an advance direction and a travelling speed are displayed even in a one-shot positioning operation. SOLUTION: A portable navigation apparatus which positions the latitude and the longitude of a present location by using a GPS is provided with a one-shot positioning mode in which a positioning operation is stopped in a point of time when the positioning operation is completed. The direction of a position by a positioned result in a present one-shot positioning operation with reference to a position by a positioned result in a previous one-shot positioning operation is regarded as an advance direction. A value in which the distance between the position coming from the positioned result by the previous one-shot positioning operation and the position coming from the present positioned result is divided by the time elapsed up to the time of the present one-shot positioning operation from the time of the previous one-shot positioning operation is found as a travelling speed so as to be displayed. Though, an instantaneous speed and an advance direction in the point of time of a positioning operation are not obtained, an advance direction and a travelling speed up to a present positioning operation from a previous positioning operation can be obtained in a one-shot positioning operation.
