Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition comprising a specific oil (fat), surfactant and water, having abrasive grain compositional stability comparable to those of conventional products, capable of easily washing articles treated therewith with water because of being soluble in water, and useful in cutting or polishing brittle materials. SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) pref. 5-95wt.% of a hydrocarbon oil or fatty acid (ester), (B) pref. 1-50wt.% of a surfactant, i.e., a phosphoric ester (salt) such as a compound of the formula [RO(Ck H2k O)n ]m -PO(OM)q [R is a 6-18C alkyl, alkenyl or 8-18C alkylphenyl; M is H, a monovalent metal atom or (alkanol) ammonium; (k) is 2 or 3: (n) is 0-20; (m) is 1 or 2; (q) is (3-m)], and (C) pref. 1-95wt.% of water.
