Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a floating filter medium not requiring backwashing operation. SOLUTION: In a water treating apparatus in which waste water is fed to a packed column 1 packed with a floating filter medium 3 from below and treated water is made to overflow the packed column, a washing tank 2 is installed adjacent to the packed column 1, and an opening 12 by which the packed column is made to communicate with the washing tank is installed below a packed filter medium bed 13. By own weight of the filter medium repacked in the packed column, the filter medium 3 in the lower part of the packed filter medium bed is moved to the washing tank 2 through the opening 12. The filter medium 3 floating in the upper part of the washing tank is scooped up by a bucket conveyor 11 made of a metal net and is washed, and then the washed filter medium is repacked in the upper part of the packed column 1. |
