Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control the over-speed of a water wheel generator during load rejection by providing with a fast moving intake valve at an intake tube for supplying air to a draft tube for draining water after work has been finished in the water wheel and opening the speed moving type air supply valve when the water wheel generator is in an over-speed state. SOLUTION: For an impulse water wheel to be installed in a hydro-electric power station, the water wheel is arranged in a casing 1 and the water from an upper pond is introduced. The water quantity from the upper pond is adjusted by means of a guide vane, and the water after work has been finished in the water wheel is discharged through a draft tube 2. The draft tube 2 is provided with an intake tube 3 for supplying the atmosphere during load rejection, and a fast moving type intake valve 4 is intervened in this intake tube 3. From a valve driving instruction device 5, a water wheel generator coupled with the water wheel outputs the open instruction signal of the fast moving type intake valve 4 when the water wheel generator is in over-speed state and the water wheel power generator outputs the close instruction signal when it returns in the set speed. Thereby, the excessive speed rise generated during load rejection is effectively restricted.
