Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the consumption quantity of a battery and smoothly start a travel by detecting the outputs of a travel speed detection section and a torque detection section and the driving current of an auxiliary power motor, operating a transmission for higher efficiency of the auxiliary power motor, and controlling a shift operation drive section. SOLUTION: The output of a travel speed detection section constituted of a magnet and a reed switch 40, the output of a torque detection section having a potentiometer as a torque sensor 16, and the driving current of an auxiliary power motor 15 are detected by a current sensor 59, a transmission is operated for higher efficiency of the auxiliary power motor 15, and a shift operation drive section is controlled by a controller 17 provided with a microcomputer 57. A travel can be made at high motor efficiency, the consumption quantity of a battery 16 serving as the power source of the shift operation drive section and the controller 17 is reduced, the travel distance can be extended, the travel can be started at a low gear, and the travel can be smoothly started.
