Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pitch-based continuous carbon fiber bundle excellent in processability into prepregs or woven fabrics despite being of low modulus, also capable of giving FRP products with excellent properties. SOLUTION: This pitch-based continuous carbon fiber bundle has the following characteristics: made up of 1000 or more filaments of carbon fiber; elastic modulus: 5-8tonf/mm ; carbon content: >=97wt.%; tensile strength: >=100kgf/mm ; fiber diameter: >=4μm but <10μm; and water absorption: <=4wt.%. Thereby, this carbon fiber bundle is light in weight, low in rigidity, excellent in processability into FRP products, and yields stable and excellent composite performances with no effect such as moisture absorption.
