Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bolt retaining device which can retain a bolt against a member to be fastened and can prevent the threaded part of the bolt from damaging when fitting the bolt into a member to be fitted, in a device which fastens the member to be fastened onto the member to be fitted with the bolt. SOLUTION: A member 6a to be fastened is fastened onto a member 4a to be fitted with a bolt 9. With the bolt 9 unfastened, a retaining member 30 is fitted between the underhead of the bolt 9 and the member 6a to be fastened. The retaining member 30 has its thickness (h) longer than the protruding length (i) of the threaded part of the bolt 9 from the member 6a to be fastened when it is fastened. The retaining member 30 is provided with an opening part 31 at its side. The bolt 9 is retained against the member 6a to be fastened without the threaded part of the bolt 9 extruding from the member 6a to be fastened.
