Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to stably drive a torch bar by linearly reciprocatingly moving the arm mounted with the bar along a linear guide under the control to drive it by a linear motor. SOLUTION: A linear motor 31 has a cylindrical coil 31a to generate a thrust in the axial direction by supplying a motor current to the coil 31a. A bracket 32 forms a magnetic circuit to the motor 31. A torch bar 35 is mounted at the other end of an arm 33, and a position sensor 36 and speed sensor 37 are provided near the bar 35. The motor 31 is driven based on the command signal given by a controller and the motor current fed back from the motor 31. Thus, the bar can be driven with excellent response, and the size reduction and space conservation can be realized. The bar can be stably driven, and the ball of high quality can be formed.
