Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce consumption of the lubricating oil by suppressing the oil scraping effect when a piston is in the elevation stroke, or amplifying the oil scraping effect in a two-piece combination type oil ring for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: One rail 11 projected to a center part of an outer circumferential surface of an oil ring body 10 is provided, an abutting surface 14 with which the shape of an outer circumference of a section of a tip part of the rail 11 is brought into circumferential contact in parallel to an inner circumferential surface 40 of a cylinder and a tapered surface 15 which is arranged continuous to and above the abutting surface and in which the ring diameter is expanded downwardly from the upper side are provided, or one rail having an abutting surface 16 in which a tip part of the rail is parallel to the inner circumferential surface 40 is provided, and its abutting surface width is 0.15-0.3mm. In addition, a wear resistant film made of PVD or CVD is formed on an outer circumferential surface of the rail.
