Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the workability of a head shell constituting member and to facilitate production by press forming a face side shell member of a plate blank consisting of an (α+β) type titanium alloy, forming a back side shell member of a plate blank consisting of pure titanium in part or the entire part and welding and integrating both members. SOLUTION: The production of a metal head 1 having a hollow metallic shell structure is executed by first press forming the plate blank consisting of the (α+β) type titanium alloy or β type titanium alloy to obtain the face side shell member 2 and integrally forming the part 2A of the hosel part by forging. Besides, the plate blank consisting of the pure titanium is press formed, by which the back side shell member 3 is obtd. and the part 3A of the hosel part is formed integrally therewith. Such shell members 2, 3 are subjected to trimming and these shell members 2, 3 are combined with each other and are integrated by welding and are subjected to heat treatment, by which the metal head 1 is produced.
