PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system for a road capable of suppressing drop of radiating light even in a long use and enhancing efficiency. SOLUTION: A light source 6 is lit, an ultraviolet ray is generated together with a visible light, performs total reflection on the boundary with air, and conducted as a transmission light within a light conductive body 5. Light containing the ultraviolet ray is applied to a photocatalyst layer (6), and diffused by silica fine particles of the photocatalyst layer (6), and applied to the surrounding from cracks. Since the light is applied along the light conductive body 5, the condition of a road is made intelligible, and a sight daytime appearance and safety are enhanced. By the ultraviolet ray from the light source 6 transmitted through the photocatalyst layer (6) or an ultraviolet ray from the outside light such as the sun, titania fine particles of the photocatalyst layer (6) acts as a photocatalyst.
