Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic having ultraviolet light absorbing function in a wide wavelength, a free radical eliminating function and an additional function such as allergy suppressing function, containing a polyphenol derived from a rosaceous fruit. SOLUTION: This cosmetic contains a polyphenol derived from a rosaceous fruit (preferably an immature apple fruit). The polyphenol is preferably obtained by treating a squeezed fruit juice or an extracted solution of the rosaceous fruit with adsorbent, eluting the adsorbed fraction with a hydrous alcohol such as ethanol. For example, a method for washing a raw material, grinding/ compressing the raw material while adding sulfurous acid, then adding a pectinase to the ground/compressed material and obtaining a clear fruit juice by centrifugal separation, filtration, etc., may be cited as the method for squeezing the fruit juice. A styrene-divinylbenzene-based resin may be cited as the adsorbent. A 50% alcohol solution is preferable as hydrous alcohol used for the elution of the polyphenol.
