Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ribbon cartridge apparatus capable of certainly preventing the slackening of an ink ribbon and imparting ink ribbon slackening preventing function to a ribbon cartridge itself. SOLUTION: A ribbon cartridge 11 has an ink ribbon, a cartridge main body 15 loaded with an unwinding reel 13 and a taking-up reel 14 and a slide plate 16 having a pair of reel engaging parts 92 engaged with and disengaged from the unwinding reel 13 and the taking-up reel 14. The slide plate 16 is attached to the cartridge main body 15 so as to be freely slidable between a specifying position where a pair of the reel engaging parts 92 are engaged with the unwinding reel 13 and the taking-up reel 14 to specify the rotation of both reels 13, 14 and a specification release position where a pair of the reel engaging parts 92 are separated from the unwinding reel 13 and the taking-up reel 14 to release the specification of the rotation of both reels 13, 14.
