Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely, smoothly and efficiently discharge produced molten slag and molten salt upon treating incineration ash and flying ash, generated upon treating the incineration ash and flying ash through melting in an electric resistance type melting furnace when municipal waste and the like are incinerated by an incinerating furnace. SOLUTION: An upper discharging port 4 is provided at the upper part of a furnace wall, whereat the upper part of molten slag layer 52 is positioned under the stationary condition of an electric resistance type melting furnace, to discharge produced molten slag out of the upper discharging port 4. In a stage wherein the thickness of a molten salt layer 51 has become a predetermined value, the discharging amount of molten slag from the upper discharging port 4 is increased top lower the level of the molten salt layer 51 to the position of the upper discharging port 4 and discharge the molten salt out of the upper discharging port 4.
