Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain thiourea derivative of plaunotol having excellent antiulcer action and antibacterial action against Hericobacter pyroli and useful for therapy and/or prevention of ulcerative disease. SOLUTION: This compound is a thiourea derivative of plaunotol or its pharmacologically permissible salt of formula I [R and R are each hydroxyl, amino, a group of the formula, NH-CS-NH-X-R (R is a 1-6C alkyl, a 3-10C cycloalkyl, etc.; X is a single bond, a 1-6C alkene), etc.; (n) is an integer of 0-2], e.g. plaunotol-1-ethylthiourea. The compound of formula I is obtained by e.g. reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (R is a 1-6C alkyl, etc.) in an inert solvent in the presence of 6-10C triarylphosphine (preferably triphenylphosphine), etc.
