Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recording liquid excellent in water resistance by using a benzimidazolone pigment obtained by coupling a diazotized aromatic amine with acetoacetylaminobenzimidazolone. SOLUTION: This recording liquid is prepared by coupling at least two diazotized aromatic amines represented by formula I (wherein X and Y are each H, NO2 , CN, a halogen, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-8C alkoxyl or the like) with 5-acetoacetylaminobenzimidazolone to obtain a benzimidazolone pigment and dispersing this pigment in an aqueous medium. This ink can be stably delivererd from a nozzle and can give a clear hue. Since the pigment comprises mixed crystals of molecules of different chemical structures because at least two aromatic amines are used in the production of the pigment, its primary particles are very small in size and it is most suitable as a colorant for ink jet recording. Further, it is desirable that the particles are surface-treated with a surfactant, rosin or the like in the synthesis. |
