Summary: | PURPOSE: To provide a facility for cooling a nuclear reactor containment vessel wherein removal of decay heat is performed and release for an environment of leaking radioactive material is minimized by effectively cooling the nuclear reactor containment vessel at the time of an accident. CONSTITUTION: A facility for cooling a nuclear reactor containment vessel comprises an annulus 3 part formed between a steel-made containment vessel l and a structure covering it, a suction opening, an exhaust opening 6, a filter 4 and a fan 7. If an accident wherein temperature in the containment vessel abnormally increases should occur, the fan T is rotated automatically or by the operation of an operator. A large quantity of air supplied by the fan 7 to the annulus part 3 effectively cools the steel-made containment vessel 1. Radioactive material leaked to the annulus part 3 is removed by the filter 4 set in the exhaust opening 6. |
