Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To only easily measure with high accuracy the adhesive force of a specific very small body adhering to an arbitrary surface by performing arithmetic on the difference between the initial deformation and the maximum deformation of the small body. SOLUTION: A vertical displacement sensor 30 optically detects the vertical displacement of the L-shaped front end of a prove 28 so that a pressing section 28a protruded from the L-shaped front end of the probe 28 can be maintained at a specific positional relation to a cell 26. A horizontal displacement sensor 32 optically detects the horizontal displacement of the probe 28 which is displaced when the cell 26 is removed from the bottom of a laboratory dish 24 by means of the pressing section 28a of the probe 28. A horizontal displacement detecting circuit 48 measures the adhesive force of the cell 26 by performing arithmetic on the difference between the initial deformation and maximum deformation of the cell 26. Since the adhesive force of each cell 26 can be detected with high accuracy, the nature of each cell can be evaluated with accuracy in the growth process of each cell.
