Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical line laying method which makes drawing-down operation efficient and the self-support optical cable which is applied to this method and allows neither rainwater nor a foreign body to enter itself. SOLUTION: The self-support type optical cable consists of a support line part 1 and a long-size member part 2, which have a common jacket 3 and are united through a neck part. The long-size member part 2 has the jacket 5 sectioned lost in a cylinder shape and optical outdoor lines 4 are stored loosely in its internal space 2a. At a point on the downstream side of a drawing-down point, the jacket 3 is cut and opened and an optical outdoor line 4 is selected and cut. At the drawing-down point, the jacket 3 is partially cut and the optical outdoor line 4 is drawn out selectively at its cutting side. The drawn-out optical outdoor line 4 is laid as it is up to a subscriber's house and connected to its indoor line. The partially cut part of the jacket 3 is closed to disallow rainwater or a foreign body to enter the cable.
