Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition excellent in freeze resistance and Freon gas transmission resistance, useful as a rubber material for a Freon hose of freeze-resistant specification, by blending a nitrile group-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber with ultrafine magnesium silicate and a vulcanizing agent. SOLUTION: This rubber composition is obtained by blending (A) a nitrile group-containing highly unsaturated copolymer rubber obtained by hydrogenating a conjugated diene part of an unsaturated nitrile-conjugated diene-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester copolymer with (B) ultrafine magnesium silicate and (C) a vulcanizing agent. In the component A, acrylonitrile is preferable as the unsaturated nitrile, butadiene is preferable as the conjugated diene and an unsaturated dicarboxylic aid dialkyl ester is preferable as the unsaturated carboxylic acid ester. The component B is obtained by grinding and classifying hydrous magnesium silicate followed by baking and has <=10μm, preferably <=8μm, more preferably <=1μm average diameter.
