Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a weed controlling agent composition for lawn, exhibiting excellent controlling effect on the harmful weeds on lawn at a small amount of application and harmless to the lawn by using a specific triazole derivative as an active component. SOLUTION: This agent contains a 1,2,4-triazole derivative of the formula I (R and R are each H or methyl; R and R are each a halogen, a lower alkyl, a lower alkoxy, a lower haloalkyl, a lower haloalkoxy or cyano; R is methyl or ethyl; X is O or S) as an active component. The application rate of the 1,2,4-triazole derivative of formula I is preferably 10-100g per 10 are of the lawn. The compound of formula I can be produced e.g. by reacting a (thio)semicarbazide compound of formula II with trifluoroacetic anhydride in a proper solvent or in the absence of solvent.
