Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the communication cost relating to inter-LAN connection by not making preliminary setting of an ISDN when an opposite party going to be communicated ia an ISDN line is disable of communication. SOLUTION: In the case of sending a packet from a node 3a to a node 3b, when the node 3b is disable of communication, the node 3b does not send an echo reply message within a prescribed time. Then in order to reject a setup request from an inter-LAN connector 1a, a DISC message is sent to an ISDN line 4 to terminate a call control procedure through interruption. On the other hand, the connector 1a receiving the DISC message from the line 4 abort a packet received from a LAN 2a. Thus, when the node 3b is disable of communication, an ISDN call is not set, a D channel call control procedure is interrupted and terminated and a data packet from the LAN is not transferred to the ISDN line but aborted to reduce the communication cost for inter-LAN connection.
