Summary:PURPOSE: To make it possible to change over connection of optical fibers without returning of reflected return light up to a light emitting source of light by excluding the reflected return light from end faces. CONSTITUTION: This optical switch has a first ferrule 6 and second ferrule 14 arranged with connecting end faces 13, 15 opposite to each other. Both first and second ferrules 6, 14 are relatively rotated in the concentrical state. Both of the first and second ferrules 6, 14 are provided with positioning pins 24 for aligning axes by varying the combinations of the end faces of the first optical fibers 12a to 12f and the end faces of the second optical fibers 20a to 20f. The optical switch is constituted so as to execute changeover of the connection of the end faces of the first optical fibers 12a to 13f and the end faces of the second optical fibers 20a to 20f. One of the connecting end faces 13 of the first ferrule 6 and the second ferrule 14 is a convex face having an inclination with the perpendicular face to the central axis of rotation and the other is a concave face which fits and presses its connecting end face 14 to the convex face and has the same inclination as the inclination of the convex face to the perpendicular face to the central axis of rotation.
