Summary:PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of inner structure and damaged core flowing out of a pressure vessel by cooling inside of the pressure vessel efficiently in a hypothetical accident. CONSTITUTION: Between a valve 20 and a valve 21 in a pipe 10 for supplying coolant in the upper head of a pressure vessel 2, a pipe 11 from a water pool 30 is connected and a valve 22 and a pump 40 are placed in the pipe 11. In the case of a hypothetical accident in which the water level in the pressure vessel 2 decreases and injection of an emergency core cooling system is not successful, the pump 40 is activated, the valve 21 is closed and the valve 20 and the valve 22 are opened. By this, coolant is supplied from the upper part of the pressure vessel 2 and flows down cooling the inner structure. Thus, the reaction between the damaged core and the floor concrete of the containment is decreased and special measure for maintaining the intactness of the containment can be made unnecessary.
