Summary:PURPOSE: To stabilize a friction factor by forming grooves or an island-like recessed parts in at lease one of the sliding surfaces of a rotor and a stator which are formed of a disk made of carbon/carbon composite to make it easy to remove a wear-out powder from the sliding surfaces of the rotor and the stator. CONSTITUTION: A stator 11 is arranged in both respective surfaces of a plurality of rotors 12 movably fitted in the axial direction to the sleeve pressed into the periphery of a rotating shaft. Braking force is generated by pressing the stator 11 with an actuator to press a rotor 12 from both sides. In the disk brake, grooves 13... (or island-like recessed parts) are provided in at least one of the sliding surfaces of the stator 11 and the rotor 12. At that time, the width in the sliding direction of islands forming the respective grooves 13 is set to not more than 45m/m. Thereby, the wear-out powder generated in the sliding surfaces is gathered into the grooves 13 and quickly removed from the sliding surfaces to eliminate the dispersion of the friction factor of the sliding surfaces.
