PURPOSE:To prevent washing liquid or foam from being sprinkled by suppressing the acceleration of foam for a little dirty laundry while increasing the quantity of washing liquid to be circulated concerning the pulsator type washing machine for washing clothing by circulating the washing liquid from the upper part of a washing vessel to the lower part. CONSTITUTION:A water receiving vessel 3 is provided with a transmission degree detecting means 23 for detecting the dirt of laundry or the like and on the bottom of a washing and dehydrating vessel 4 arranged inside the water receiving vessel 3, a pulsator 7 is arranged and driven by a motor 9 so as to be freely rotated. An operation controller 19 is provided to control the reversing time limit and energizing of the motor 9, the operation controller 19 can generate strong and weak water currents by controlling the reversing time limit of the pulsator 7 and controls the strength of the water current corresponding to a dirt removing degree and a detergent solving degree detected by the transmission degree detecting means 23 and concerning the water current at the time of washing, the water current is fixed in the biginning of washing but the previously set water current is selected corresponding to the level of the output signal of a transmission degree from the transmission degree detecting means 23 after the lapse of prescribed time.
