Summary:PURPOSE: To realize a high recording density while the excellent corrosion- resistance is maintained. CONSTITUTION: A recording part 2 which is composed of dielectric layers 4 and 6, a recording magnetic layer 5, a reflective film 7, etc., is provided on a transparent substrate 1. In a magneto-optical disc like this, the recording magnetic layer 5 is composed of a TeFeCoCr amorphous thin film. The Co content (y) (atm.%) and Cr content (z) (atm.%) of the amorphous film satisfy the equation z=b+ay wherein -1.25<=b<=-0.15 and 0.85<=a<=0.98. With this constitution, as the sensitivity for a recording power is not changed, a disc with a new format can be accepted quickly and the development cost can be reduced. Further, as the manufacturing margins for the sensitivity standards of the respective formats are allowed, the defect rate can be reduced.
