Summary:PURPOSE: To obtain an ultraviolet rays blocking material capable of absorbing ultraviolet rays having 200-400nm wavelength and readily being kneaded into synthetic resins, excellent in dispersibility and readily controlling color by carrying a cerium compound on inorganic porous fine particles. CONSTITUTION: This ultraviolet rays blocking material is obtained by carrying (B) a cerium compound and preferably further (C) a metal oxide on inorganic porous fine particles obtained preferably by an interfacial reaction method. Furthermore, though the size and the shape of the particles depend on uses, the size of particles are preferably 0.001-100μm, further preferably 0.05-50μm. As the component B, e.g. CeF3 , CeCl3 or CeO2 , etc., can be used and, as the component C, e.g. Fe2 O3 or ZnO can be used.
