Summary:PURPOSE: To provide the method for controlling the cache memory wherein the search speed of a cache management table, and the hit rate of the cache is made high as well as the speed of data access processing in the data storage device such as magnetic storage devices is made high, the overhead of an information processor in data access is reduced and the reliability of data is made high. CONSTITUTION: The data of a disk is managed for each block of the size of the integer multiple of the sector. The block of data including the logic access with the access request from a CPU 1 is stored in a cache memory 3. In a cache management table 4, the address information of data stored in the cache and the information of number of accesses are written. A cache controller 2 decides where the data is preserved in a cache and decides the data block to be eliminated when the cache memory 3 is filled.
