PURPOSE: To obtain a reinforcement for a fiber-reinforced plastic excellent in heat resistance and impact absorption characteristics by using a fabric of which a part of one side is formed from polybenzazole fibers having specified strengths. CONSTITUTION: This reinforcement is a fabric of which 10-35% (by area) of one side A is formed from polybenzazole fibers having a tensile strength of 4.0GPa or higher and an initial tensile modulus of 140GPa or higher. A pref. fiber-reinforced plastic is a composite prepd. by laminating the first reinforced resin layer reinfroced with the reinforcement of the invention to the second reinforced resin layer reinfroced with inorg. fibers (e.g. carbon fibers) in such a manner that the side A of the first reinforced resin layer is bonded to the second reinforced resin layer.
