Summary:PURPOSE:To provide a water treating filter material excellent in the adsorbing capacity of a malodorous substance, especially, a moldy smell substance dissolved in water. CONSTITUTION:A water treating filter material is constituted of a fixed adsorbing layer 1 based on granular activated carbon with a BET specific surface area of 1500m /g or more and a pore radius of 0.40nm or more and fibrous activated carbon with a BET specific surface area of 500m /g or more and a pore radius of 0.35nm or more on a water inflow side and a fixed adsorbing layer 2 based on fibrous activated carbon with a BET specific surface area of 500m /g or more and a pore radius of 0.35nm or more on a water outflow side.
