Summary:PURPOSE:To theoretically design a propeller having a specified boss ratio for producing super cavitation and a specific thrust by obtaining the circulation distribution of the propeller on the basis of respective specific procedures and theories to calculate blade sections having the designed dynamic lift obtained therefrom and further carry out the pitch correction. CONSTITUTION:The circulation distribution of a propeller to produce a thrust provided by the design is obtained from a propeller lift line theory. The designed dynamic lift in respective radial positions is obtained from the circulation distribution. Then, a theoretical chart of blade section shape is prepared by the use of a non-linear super-cavitating blade theory based on a border element method to calculate the blade section having the given design lift. The pitch is corrected in consideration of the production of cavitation by setting a difference between the camber obtained from the result and the camber of the propeller having the given load distribution as a correction amount. Thus, the propeller generating the super-cavitation and having 0.2 or less of the boss ratio is designed theoretically.
