PURPOSE:To provide a feed containing a specified component such as bovine lactoferrin and capable of increasing the viable cell number of Lactobacillus bifidus by addition to a feed, etc., or direct oral administration. CONSTITUTION:This feed for growth promotion of Lactobacillus bifidus contains a substance selected from bovine lactoferrin, bovine apolactoferrin and bovine lactoferrin iron in an amount of at least >=15wt.% as the active component. Since this feed has a remarkable growth promoting effect on Lactobacillus bifidus, it can increase the viable cell number of Lactobacillus bifidus living in the intestines of an animal and promote growth of Lactobacillus bifidus by addition to, e.g. a medium or a feed respectively containing Lactobacillus bifidus.
