Summary:PURPOSE:To make smooth continuous recording. CONSTITUTION:In a recording device which is provided with a plurality of recording mediums, a plurality of recording means 38, 45 for storing image pictures in the respective recording mediums, and a detecting means for detecting the remaining quantities of the respective recording mediums, and by which when the detecting means detects that the remaining quantity of the recording medium on one side out of a plurality of recording mediums has reached a prescribed amount, the recording mean is changed over to the recording means 45 so that recording can be carried out by the recording medium on the other side; when the recording medium on the other side is in preparation of recording action, it waits the execution of changing-over action to the recording means 45 for storing the recording medium on the other side.
