Summary: | PURPOSE: To attain efficient coding even when an image magnified/reduced through zooming is in existence in a received image signal in the image coding method where in-frame coding is conducted for a prescribed frame interval, inter-frame prediction is applied to other frame attended with motion compensation and a predicted error is coded. CONSTITUTION: A zoomed part in a received image is detected by a zoom detector 20. When a quantizer 5 quantizes the detected zoomed part, number of transmission bits allocated to frames subject to in-frame coding is reduced in comparison with coding an image signal other than the zoomed part and number of transmission bits for frames for coding a prediction error for inter- frame prediction by the decrease. Thus, optimum coding is applied to the zoomed part and other part respectively. |
