Summary:PURPOSE: To facilitate the assemblage without necessity of electric conduction for a driving means at the time of assembly and to reduce the cost by adjusting the position of a lens holder for holding an objective lens supported by elastic supporting members so that the objective lens comes in just focus on a recording surface of a recording medium at a position where the holder hangs down by gravity. CONSTITUTION: The lens holder 11 for supporting the objective lens 11c with its optical axis vertical is supported at a fixed part 14 at least movably in the direction of the optical axis of the objective lens 11c by the elastic supporting members 13a-d. The fixed part 14 is fixed on an adjusting plate 30. Then, the adjusting plate 30 is adjusted in its position in the XYZ directions and in its inclination so as to be in just focus at a position D corresponding to the recording surface of the recording medium where the lens holder 11 hangs down by gravity against the tension of the elastic members 13e-d. Thus, the assemblage is facilitated without necessity of electric conduction for a driving means at the time of assembling the biaxial actuator, and then the cost is reduced.
