Summary:PURPOSE: To estimate the pressure of an exhaust system precisely at a low cost by providing an intake air flow rate detection means and a rotation speed detection means and estimating an intake system pressure based on the element including the intake air flow rate and the rotation speed of an engine detected thereby. CONSTITUTION: During the running of a diesel engine 5, an engine control unit 13 calculates the allowable maximum injection amount of a fuel corresponding to an intake air amount based on the detection value such as an air flow meter 16, a rotation speed sensor 17, a lever opening sensor 18 and a water temperature sensor 19. In this time, an intake air flow rate and an intake EGR amount per one cylinder, an intake temperature, an EGR temperature and a volume efficiency corresponding value are found out. An intake air pressure is calculated based on these data and the volume ratio set in advance. An exhaust gas pressure is calculated based on the exhaust gas amount exhausted from one cylinder, the intake EGR amount per one cylinder, an exhaust gas temperature, an engine rotation speed and a constant and these calculation result is utilized to the calculation of the fuel injection amount.
