Summary:PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition excellent in heat resistance, impact resistance and heat stability and undergoing little dimensional change after absorption of moisture by compounding a specified polybromostyrene and a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION: 42-95wt.% nylon 4, 6 (a) comprising polytetramethylene adipamide is mixed with 3-45wt.% polybromostyrene (b) which is obtained by polymerizing at least one brominated styrene monomer, such as styrene bromide or styrene dibromide, contains at least 50wt.% styrene dibromide units and has a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of 1×10 to 9×10 and a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of at most 5, 2-53wt.% thermoplastic resin (c), an inorganic filler (d) in an amount of 1-200 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. total of components (a), (b) and (c), and if necessary, a flame retardant aid and other additives. The mixture is extruded or injection molded at 300-320 deg.C to give the flame-retardant resin composition having a weight loss of less than 8% after 3min in nitrogen at 315 deg.C as determined with a thermochemical balance.
