Summary:PURPOSE: To provide a method capable of adequately connecting a coated optical fiber of a ribbon and a single coated fiber of a single fiber cord by easily leading out the optical fiber from the single fiber cord. CONSTITUTION: The secondary coating layer 5 of the single fiber cord 1 is formed of a laminated structure of >=2 layers having the innermost layer 3 of a low Young's modulus and the outermost layer 4 having a high Young's modulus. The secondary coating layer 5 at the front end of the single fiber cord 1 is partly removed to expose the innermost layer 3 and thereafter, the optical fibers 2 are led out while the exposed innermost layer 3 is broken. Plural led out optical fibers 2 are then aligned in parallel and one row and are integrally fusion sliced to the optical fibers of the optical ribbon.
