Summary: | PURPOSE: To optimize the bend deformation of a channel box caused by the corrosion resistance, hydrogen absorption resistance, and irradiation growth of fuel assembly members by constituting a coated pipe, spacer, and the channel box of zirconium containing tin, iron, chrome, and nickel at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION: A coated pipe 24 is constituted in such a way that the quantity of the solid solution of tin, iron, and nickel in the external surface is made larger than that of the solid solution of the elements in the internal surface. A channel box 4 and water rod 2 are constituted in such a way that the orientation rates (Fr values) in (0001)-crystal orientation in their thickness directions are adjusted to 0.25-0.50 and the wall thickness of the box 4 at its corner sections is made thicker than that in its side sections. The pipe 24, a spacer 7, and the box 4 are substantially made of zirconium containing 1-2wt.% tin, 0.20-0.35wt.% iron, 0.005-0.15wt.% chrome, and 0.03-0.16wt.% nickel. In the pipe 24, spacer 7, and box 4, especially, an extremely fine intermetallic compound of tin and nickel is deposited in the crystal grains of α-zirconium. |
