Summary:PURPOSE: To reduce repairing costs and contribute to the preservation of environment, by detecting a water leak which cannot be secured by control techniques after a water shut structure is put, in use while cutting costs for setting of the structure, and easily and surely specifying/recognizing a position of the water leak in a safety management equipment for the purpose of functional maintenance. CONSTITUTION: This water leak detector uses a principle generating a potential difference between a pair of different kinds of metallic electrodes when the electrodes are soaked in an aqueous solution. One electrode 4 is buried in the ground where a water-shutting band 3 is laid or disposed between the ground and water-shutting band 3. The other electrode is a movable electrode 2. A signal line of the electrode 2 is guided to a control building to be connected to a signal converter 10 for converting a current value to a voltage. A water leak detection circuit is thus constituted.
