Summary:PURPOSE: To obtain an optical disk which has an excellent productivity and comprises a mask layer capable of obtaining a good reproduced signal. CONSTITUTION: In optical disks 1, 11, mask layers 3, 13 which have pits 2A and guide grooves 12A are provided on flat substrates 2, 12 which have no uneven parts by uneven pits, concentric circle-shaped or spiral guide grooves or the like. The mask layers 3, 13 are constituted in such a way that a pigment material whose optical transmittance is changed reversibly is dispersed into a transparent dielectric material such as a thermoplastic resin, a thermosetting resin, a photo-curing resin or the like. In addition, the pits A and the guide grooves 12A are formed in such a way that a mask layer material which contains a pigment material dispersed into a transparent dielectric material is molded by using a stamper having an uneven shape according to the pits 2A or the guide grooves 12A.
