Summary:PURPOSE: To obtain a method for manufacturing a long ultra-high-molecular- weight polyethylene porous material used for a filter or a carrier of a specific concerned material having many open-cells. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene porous material which is extrusion molded by a ram extruder comprises the steps of passing composition mainly containing ultra-high- molecular-weight polyethylene partially in a molten state from the orifice of a breaker plate having a plurality of orifices under the conditions of a heating temperature of 150 to 250 deg.C and a shearing velocity of 1.0×10 to 3.0×10 sec<-1> , and fusion bonding the partial melt positions in a mold interlocked to the plate to manufacture the porous material having many open-cells.
